You & I by J.M. Romig

You and I.
We stumbled into being by accident.
But once we got our footing, we started
running, sprinting, biking, driving, flying, teleporting
grunting, speaking, shouting, screaming, telephoning
carving, painting, scribing, typing, televisioning
hoping, praying, preaching, leaching, televangeling
hunting, killing, shooting, bombing, telewarring

No warning.

We took without asking,
what was rightfully ours
Because we said so
Because we were the first who could.
We claimed and named and maimed the world
because we thought we should.
Because no one else would.

We willed it to be, and it was so.
We killed so it would be so
and those of us
who would object,
they would have their necks snapped next.

We did all of this, and called it good.

You see, you and I.
We stumbled into being by accident.
Though, we felt it was design.
For surely no chance happening
could make something so obviously perfect

Second only to Divine.
