Of Its Kind
“Words too are surfaces” (Lisel Mueller)
“Poem is the child’s ear” (Stephen Jonas)
soft tongue into the canal
filled with vowels
now upon hearing
new stanzas form
upon surfaces wet
but wanted
a bit rough to touch
but smooth
in application
between whispers of nothing
into sweet ear
which is itself
the same – receiving
more of its kind.
