1. Lesser Winds

My favorite poet died in Baltimore

And I stopped drinking
And began reading
And fell praying
All my days long

For the psalms he wrote
And tales he spoke
And the dreams he dreamt
Were lesser winds
Than what he meant

My favorite poet died
Now I'm starting to breathe.

2.  Optic Obsidian​

the darkness was always there
watching the course of history
the righteous did little
that was the embarrassing mystery.

3. Seal Beach, 1992

I met a psychic at Seal Beach
Who predicted my writing
Would take off later in my life
So it was ok to keep sleeping
Around with hippie chicks
And find my identity
And compose my poetry
And fill those condoms
With doubtful seeds.

4. Warfare at 50

I like my enemies
Like I like my brandy
Serious and aged
With a deep purpose
To their wicked ways
If only I can bang
Their sisters
With that much sincerity.

I stopped smoking
And started praying
And just added
someone else
not listening
to my complaints.
