1. Ice Storm Art

thick ice coated cracked mosaic
hues of unfallen stubborn leaves
yellow maroon red and orange
oak twigs and branches
crackle and click in the cold gusts
natural wind chimes playing quiet notes
for the artistic dawn sun and rising moon
***
2. Flashback

bluebird visions
delicate stream song
that bellbottom spark
grooving in Kingsland park
loud colors, love and youth
a new foreign land named Vietnam
as we preached passing hand to hand
and looked deep into our new soul canyons
a seventies calm of good-vibes , forever

***
10. Of course , it's Sunday stay with me

we'll seed the air with love
and create an aura of golden now
while we watch elegant doves
with emerald leaves of olive
quietly gaze at heaven
and gently feel caring eyes fall upon us
as we are baptized anew in joytears

***
3. New York Spell

like that forgotten song
that's reheard , sweeter and richer sounding

when leaving New York
the spell goes too
as Manhattan patient and regal rests
like a lady-in-waiting
on return, the awe and freedom mist falls
on the spirit
the breezy island whispers stay
this is the only place to be
this is the only place to be
this is the only place to be

***
4. That Rain

crushing rain woke me
hours after midnight
each drop a flat note
pinged off this leaf or that stone
earths white noise
caused a natural claustrophobia
shrinking my mind space
inducing fear
knowing I can't escape
until it wanes

***
5. Sometime We May

I like maybe and sometime
social option play
Not a no, too binary
Or a yes, too binary
variaBle, shifty, a utilitarian maybe
the emir of delay and control
later arrives at will
Ubered in by the capricious sometimeer
In that yellow limousine

***
6. Daydreamer

how that beachmoon merged our hearts
our lives like twine together wrapped
with thoughts closer than May and June
we were forever forged
our souls a custom-fit
you my love made my heart ring then crack
now I daydream of that soulful calm
for time trumped our love
and I alone chase the cruel wind of yesterfeel
for love isn't what it first appears

***
7. December Weeping Willow (2015 Paris)

sage graceful composed
wistful for tranquil joyous years

streaming green tears of reverie
for the dream of good will
and noble respect for all beliefs

evening moonlight and stars
ease the pain of waxing terror and mistrust
a cosmic peacebreeze magnifies hope
igniting the promise of harmony and enlightenment among all humans

***
8. Leafspring

late winter silver sun
falls on the high oaks and land
gently awakens its children
green baby buds open and stretch
to the soft notes of a SpringSong
natures unbroken promise
warms our cooled hearts
chilled by mercurial winter days
leafspring zing
the annual élan

***
9. Fire Thief

great Prometheus mixed his water and dirt
adroit like the corporate lab
found perfection, began molding
needed fire, pillaged heaven
a perfect execution
later unable to rise and extinguish his agony
as the vultures tugged and pecked
on a meal served by hubris

These poems reminded me of a great song by the Minutemen called The Glory of Man. They're one of my favorite bands 4 life! Great stuff! It's a hard to pick a favorite, but 9 is very good. I'm feeling that one.

words are friends they speak to each other and to us if we are willing to listen
what they say is ours to interpret , internalize, mull, articulate and to ask again if even with just a smile
