James Browning Kepple

James Browning Kepple is the President of the New York Browning Society, Founder of Underground Books, and Creator of Jackie Robinson Poetry Day.  He co-judges each year the New York City High School Wide Poetry Contest with Stephen Motika of Poets House that invites over 120+ Public, Parochial, and Private Schools in the NYC area to enter.
He assists Ukraine's largest publishing house with English Translations,  A-Ba-Ba-Ha-La-Ma-Ha.  James has published 10 volumes of poetry! He enjoys salsa verde, chips and margaritas, the fine contour of a smooth river rock skipping across pond, the company of the switched on still thinking human folk, and of course the subtle touch of a beautiful woman's held hand as the sunset descends over the gushing ocean's waves.

He has recently performed at the National Arts Club, KGB Bar, Harlem Book Fair, The Harlem Arts Festival, Jackie Robinson Poetry Day, Book Forum Lviv,  Busboys and Poets, and the New York City Poetry Festival. He created and manages the KIDS MAKE BOOKS 2 from Age 2-92, an initiative that through public events such as The Harlem Arts Festival, Jackie Robinson Poetry Day and the NYC Poetry Festival, kids of any age can learn how to make their own personal chapbook of Harlem Renaissance Poetry. He was selected by the US Fulbright Program to represent the United States as one of their top young poets in Kyiv and Lviv Ukraine at their International Book Festival. 

Having been featured in a few award winning documentaries, host of several live shows in NYC, Winner of the 2015 NYC Bloody Mary Mix Down for the best Bloody Mary in the 5 boros, and the frontman harmonicai for a few early band demises, James has dipped his tow into the body of many solar subterfuge, the buckets of left over rain washed golden hair, and the delicious grapes that succumb to the weight of pedial. Currently based in New York City, he cannot wait to add stamps to passport with full suitcase full of poetry in hand to come visit your country house, dacha, outdoor stadium, quaint bookstore, or just the smallest of confines within your heart. He will be hosting the KIDS MAKE BOOKS 2 poetry workshop at this years 4th Annual Jackie Robinson Poetry Day, and would love to see your smiling faces there this September 21st 2019 in Harlem!
